MAT+SAR K9 is a non-profit Alaska search dog unit based in the Matanuska Valley of Alaska. Our handlers are all volunteers who provide their own dogs and pay all the expenses of feeding, veterinary care, travel, and purchase of needed equipment.
Teams are trained in airscent, trailing, land and water cadaver, avalanche and evidence search and required to pass a proficiency evaluation prior to participating in searches. In addition to training the dog, handlers are required to have training in first aid, land navigation, wilderness survival, search strategy, and many other related subjects.
Teams are dispatched by the Alaska State Troopers and other local law enforcement agencies and are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
If you are interesting in joining our team as a handler or support, or if you would just like more information or to come out and observe training, please contact the MAT+SAR K9 at firstname.lastname@example.org or:
